OOTD: BCBG Top Worn as a Skirt

Outfit details: Dress: ROSS, Skirt (worn as top) BCBG, Belt: ROSS, Shoes: BCBG, Jewelry: Cookie Lee, Headband: Dollar store

I scored this lovely red flowey pleated skirt at the Salvation Army in Roseville a few weeks back and was excited to finally incorporate it into an outfit. To be 100% honest, it is actually meant to be a strapless flowey top, but for this purpose it looked much better as a skirt. I wore it over-top of my short sleeved jersey dress from ROSS to give the look of separates. The length of the black dress provided a nice lining and extra coverage under the skirt. I wore a thin black wrap over my arms earlier in the eve as it was still quite chilly. The outfit needed to be dressy, modest and comfortable since the event was for work- a suprise birthday party for the husband of one of my bosses. I was responsible for decorations and helping coordinate the festivities at the event location so she could bring him in without him suspecting a thing. I'm happy to say that everything went as planned and boy was he suprised!

My sister was there too, since she nannies their two sweet kids. She showed up wearing the same exact color scheme as me. See, we sisters think alike.

OOTD: At the county fair...

"Goin' to the fair and I'm bout to dirrrrrty" (To the tune of  "Chapel of Love") It is no joke, you will get dirty. You wear your oldest shoes if you don't want them ruined, or you wear old flippy floppies and just wash off your feet when you leave. I chose the latter of the two.

Oooh Ahh..

One of my favorite 1st place fair entries this year, was in the age 12 and under category and was Wall-E made out of recyclables. How cute is this?

Outfit of the Day 7/16/11- Night @ the Races

The Eye Makeup
(Sorry for the picture quality lately- I've been relying solely on my cell phone for blogging pictures)

What I wore to the races in Placerville... My uncle owns a Sprint Car... and since we were going out to support his team and driver, I wanted to stay with the black & white color scheme in support of the car colors. I went red on my nails.

Outfit Details:
Shirt: ROSS
Belt: ROSS
Jeans: Old Navy
Bracelets: Cookie Lee
Earrings: Cookie Lee
Necklace: Juicy Couture via PV Thrift
Sandals: Old Navy
Sunglasses: Grocery Store Cheapies*

*It is essential that you wear proper eye protection and earplugs at a race of this nature. It is not uncommon for "Cheeto" sized dirt clods to come flying your way. Once the dirt clods have ceased the track usually has dried out enough for copious amounts of dust clouds to form.  Either way do yourself a favor and bring along the necessities-even eye drops for the rogue dirt partical that has claimed residence on your eyeball.

Black and Blue and Ice Cream Too!

Today was my little brother's birthday so my family took him out to dinner at BJ's Brewhouse.
We ordered yummy deep dish pizzas and for dessert their famous Pizookie trio. Where they serve gooey warm out-of-the-oven cookies in mini pizza pans and top it with your choice flavor ice cream.

We chose the Peanut Butter (with Vanilla ice cream, Ghiridelli's triple Chocolate (with Chocolate ice cream), and Double Chocolate (with Cookie's and Cream). Mmmm mmm mmm..

I love these gray metallic flats from Ross- they are so comfy.

Rule Breaker: Black and Brown

Faux Pas? or Acceptable? Eitherway I'm calling this a rule breaker outfit. I never intentionally have worn black with brown. Matter of fact, I once gave the hubby a lecture on wearing brown shoes with navy blue socks, a black belt and black slacks. Faux pas!

Raindrops Keep Fallin On My Head

Saturday March 19, 2011

Today's post made me realize that I haven't taken advantage of outdoor photo ops as much as I should.

Yet another rainy day here in Nevada County. I must say the rain is nice but with so much we've recieved from these back to back storms is nearly too much to handle for everyone down river from us. I last heard there was some flooding in the Sacramento area.

Today I donated 4 bags of clothes to the local thrift store. It feels great to do a little spring cleaning and to donate to a good cause.

Sans Coat

I'm loving my new boots. Now all I need is a black pair and I'll be set ;)

Spent this lovely rainy evening with my husband for dinner and a movie. When we got there- the theater was empty! I guess that's what happens when you go to the 9:40 showing in a small town on a super stormy night. Luckily about 5 mins into the movie a few people filed in. It weirds me out a little when the theater is like a ghost town. I swear I saw a tumble weed blow through the isle. Leave it to the fact that I'm no longer a teenager or maybe it's just because the theater is really old and creepy.

I Heart You

Feb 13, 2011

Happy Valentine's Day to my fellow Blogger Fashionistas! How are you spending your day?

Today my hubby, Ryan and I celebrate the 4 year anniversary of our engagement. Awe... I know mushy, right?

Deliciouso!
This year we decided on going out a night early, which as an after-thought we pride ourselves on doing. (No reservations needed, no wait to be seated, no trouble finding parking, no couples being mushy mushy and ruining our appetites over dinner *gag* haha j/k). We went to our absolute fave local Mexican Restaurant, Maria's, which with our luck when we got there, they announced they were honoring their Vday Special For Two a day early. It included two entree's, two cocktails, salads, and a desert to share for $39! That sounded much more yummy than getting our usual (which would come sans drink/salad/desert) and plus it was about $20 cheaper.

Our server Audrey, complimented me on my Cookie Lee Jewelry and asked for a card and catalog, to place an order. I love that my jewelry has the ability to sell itself. :)

And now for the story about us... Please note ahead of time that I have no intention of offending. I will let ya know that I have a sense of humor and hope that my blog sisters will understand my reason for sharing the events of that joyous day.

~*How He Proposed*~

Like many girls.. I grew up dreaming about my prince charming, and what it would be like when he asked me to marry him. You hope for something romantic, memorable, and yes-- creative. I got all of these in one. To be perfectly honest it's not really a story our future children will want to hear when they ask how we got engaged. This is not your typical proposal... nor will you find us reinacting it on TLC's "Proposal Story."

Now, I'm sure some of you have seen or at least heard of the infamous "Special Christmas Box" SNL skit performed by Justin Timberlake. Ryan joked that it was an inspiration and since Valentine's was coming up in the next few months... he thought he'd give me one. And that's the last time I thought anything about it.

Little did I know that the little Christmas Package was making a big Valentine's comeback.  He certainly had me fooled by proposing to me on THE most expected day of the year.
While waiting for our movie to start we sat in the car parking lot, talking and sipping wine- I know, classy. He checked his watch, and said, "Ooh I almost forgot there's more. So he got out of the car and went around to the trunk (fiddled around back there for a minute- and now I can only imagine how suspicious he may have looked to our parking lot neighbors- since he was attaching his creation to himself haha). He then came around to my door with a relatively good sized box wrapped in pink metallic paper with a big bow. Of course I'm suprised by this because I don't expect anything- besides a nice dinner and maybe a movie. *Hey, I was fine with just renting one)...

So he opened my car door and said, "Happy Valentine's" with the box in front of him. Then he looked at me and smiled, then let go of the package, while the package itself remained waist level- *yes no hands*.

One: cut a hole in the box*

I immediately burst out laughing... as the box is suspended from his belt... and my only thought was "omg- he did not just do this" :). I opened the box thinking maybe there was chocolate inside or something practical (Ryan is always Mr. Practical) but instead found an engagement ring in the center... he got down on one knee, both of us still laughing, me with tears streaming out of my eyes... and he asked me to marry him. I could barely get a "yes" out because I still found the whole scene to be histerical... I was suprised and impressed.

*Disclaimer: no boxes were hurt during the making of this post

My late grandmother, Gran, once told me that a sense of humor is very important in a relationship. I know that if she were here with us, she'd be laughing right along with us on this one. She most of all, would have been verrrrry proud of Ryan for his creativity. And truely I wouldn't have wanted it any other way.
