Losing My Head

Look Ma! No Head!

My in-law's dog, Smokey, makes an appearance during my photo sesh.

For some odd reason the glare of the sun poking through the trees, caused me to lose my head. I promise to you all that I am not vampire, nor ghost, nor fae. I do not have super powers that allow me to disapear when I want.

Note: I am not bruised or battered. I sport a port-wine stain birthmark on my right upper arm.

Rule Breaker: Black and Brown

Faux Pas? or Acceptable? Eitherway I'm calling this a rule breaker outfit. I never intentionally have worn black with brown. Matter of fact, I once gave the hubby a lecture on wearing brown shoes with navy blue socks, a black belt and black slacks. Faux pas!

Graype Soda

Here I smile, though I feel yucky, so forgive the no make-up/hair up in a bun look,
I promise this will not be a re-occuring theme.

This is me without makeup. Which is big for me- (I divulge I am a notorious glam camper- I can't leave home without it.) Spent the whole day in my pj's today. But I felt a bit better after throwing some clothes on to run a little errand. It gave me a great opportunity to debut my newly dyed purple top. This little guy was originally white, with white eyelet trim at the neck, and I absolutely loved it. That is until I noticed the little unsightly little yellow stain in front, how long and how it got there beats me. I'd tried several of my faithful over the counter spot removers with no luck, so it's been banished to the get rid of it pile- until now. One of my roomates- (and when I refer to roomates I mean inlaws and sister in law because my husband and I are in process of building our home right now and this allows us to save and build- we are so lucky to have them). So yes... my roomate was dying a costume for her school dance performance and at last minute we ran around  the house looking for other things to try dying. No need to waste a batch of perfectly good dye, right? Suprisingly, the shirt came out better than I expected, and due to the different materials it absorbed different amounts of the dye.

With all of the beautiful spring-like weather we've been having these past few weeks, I forgot that it's still tecnically winter. Last nights storm dropped a few inches of fluff in the higher elevations, so they cancelled school for all the kids. I planned to make a quick trip to the grocery store to pick up soup, lozenges, tea and juice before the next storm hits. Who know's what tomorrow will look like...

Biggest Little City: Part 2

Back from the trip and by golly did we have some fun :)

Outfit Trial Run- wearing my new and recently thrifted shirt

Song of the Night: We'll Be Alright by Travie McCoy

We arrived, changed into our pretties and then off we went to dinner. Our ultimate destinations being Rum Bullions- Dueling Piano Bar for some laughs and sing-a-long fun and then later somewhere to go dancing. When the show died down, half of our group went to gamble, hopefully to double their paychecks... lol and the other half of us went to shake our groove thangs at the Aura Bar in Silver Legacy.

It was great fun. Before we had known it 3 hrs had passed by. We were drenched with sweat and feeling it was about time to call it a night. And a night it was, Whew! and what a workout! My friends and I re-hydrated then made a stop at the ladies room. Now this is where the fun begins... and I can't help but laugh at myself.

On the dancefloor!

Does anyone out there remember the hilarious Friends episode with Ross and his leather pants? That was me- I had a heck of a time peeling these skintight sweaty jeggins off (yeah I know gross, right?). One of my girlfriends was in the stall next to me and started laughing as I wiggled and danced about trying to peel myself out of them.. and nearly toppling through the closed stall door during the process. Then came the whole dreaded process in reverse- this time included hopping and wiggling. Man did I wish I had a bottle of lotion with me. I should have just worn a dress.
Lesson learned, don't ask a drunken stranger to take your picture.

How My Picture Should've Looked

3am: Back to the hotel room, and ready for a shower and some Z's.

All in all it was a fun trip in which we all needed. My husband got his needed boy time as well. I was so proud of myself, I only gambled 4 dollars worth and lost only 3.80 of it- it helps that we stayed so busy, I didn't have time to gamble. I got my cashout voucher for $0.20! lol I should frame it. All in all it was a fun trip in which we all needed.

Feelin' Thrify

Saturday Feb 5, 2011

This past Saturday, I spent a lovely afternoon browsing the local thrift stores with my mom in law. The sun's a shining and it was in the low 70's. I can't believe how nice the weather was here while people across the US are experiencing one of the worst winter storms in decades. I hope this beautiful weather lasts.

Hey Guys! Check out my amazing new invisible lounge chair.

Above, I'm seen rocking my new 25cent belt and my old floral top. It's been sitting in my closet for nearly a year and *gasp!* I've worn it maybe 2 or 3 times. I figured today was a great day to bring it out, especially since I was feeling it was time to start looking at my existing wardrobe in a whole new light.

No, it's a cardigan, but thanks for noticing...

State Trooper: "Pullover! "

I couldn't help but share one of my favorite movie lines :)

Home from work! Does this smile say TGIF or what?

Cardigan: Old Navy (Fall 2010)
Shirt: Tilly's (Spring 2010)
Jeans: Old Navy Flirt Skinny Jeans (Fall 2010)
Jewelry: Cookie Lee
Flats: Nicole via ROSS* (Spring 2010)

*Note: These had extra large rosettes when I bought them. By the time I got them home I had to bust out the scissors and give them a bit of a trim. Now they don't flop over the edge of the toe as loosely. I think it looks much better.

Goodbye Skinny Jeans, Hello Flares

All I'm seeing everywhere that this season it's "All about flares" and "Platform shoes". Is it sad that I'm not even 30 yet and I feel like my mother when I say, "Wow, those were "IN" when I was in high school. I should've kept them."

It figures... I finally convince myself to purchase my first pair of skinny jeans... and they're already considered old news. I did only spend a wopping $6 at Old Navy's awesome clearance sale last weekend. After picking up and setting down and then picking up the same pair of jeggings, I gave up and brought them back to the dressing room, dragging my dear sister (and favorite fashion critic) with me. With much hesitation I imerged from the dressing room, obviously fatigued from the laborous act of getting friendly with some jeggings. I made my sister "swear to goodness" promise from my sister that these jeans in no way, shape or form made my bootious maximus unflattering, or put my muffin tops on display. Cuz' let's face it ladies, we all know that skinny jeans do not magically make you skinnier (gosh wouldn't that be nice) they just focus the attention on your 'ass'etts and your shapely gams. I thought this would be fine to encorporate into my current wardrobe, especially when I locate.... er... I mean, buy the perfect boots* to wear with them. (*Note: a majority of my shoes, boots, clothes and purses are in storage right now while we finish building our house. It's expected completion is Summer/Winter 2012)

Is it sad that I've lived long enough to see fads and styles recycle, repeat, and regurgitate at least once?

I guess I will look at the bright side... Flares have always been a favorite of mine because of their awesome ability to camoflage and balance my hipular and thighular region. Shakira said it best, my "hips don't lie".

And I will keep those skinny jeans and jeggings and will love them no matter what- ha I will keep the style alive just a little bit longer.

~*Like A Virgin, Hey! Blogged For the Very 1st Time*~

"I made it through the wilderness. Somehow I made it through, didn't know how lost I was until I found you.."  ~ Like a Virgin by Madonna

Yes, I have found my purpose. After spending the past week or two being deeply inspired by my fellow blogging fashionista friends out there, I've decided to create, in order to share.

For quite some time, I've needed an extra reason to break free from the monotony of my work wardrobe. Working in a medical office, abiding by the dress code, and still trying to keep a fashionable look can be especially tough. You're allowed to express yourself with wild cartoony print scrub tops and colorful solid bottoms. I usually top off the whole look with a simple pair of earrings and some uber-hot faux Crocs. Wait! Don't call the fashion police. This is just for work.

When the weekend's here my inner stylist starts singing TLC's...."No, I don't want no scrubs"...
But yet I yearn to dress up at the end of the day. Even if it's putting on jeans and a simple tee and my favorite piece of jewelry... It still feels a little more put together and a little less like you rolled out of bed and began your day in your jammies. Because let's face it girls, wearing scrubs M-Thurs is simply like wearing PJ's all week.

Did I mention friday's are dress up jean days? Yay! As if I needed another reason to love fridays... I love Old Navy jeans because they fit me perfectly. Never before in my life have I found jeans that fit my petite frame so nicely. I like that they have so many styles to choose from and they're reasonably priced. They have a good supply of "Short" jeans, for gals like myself, but they also have a good selection in "Long" jeans and all the sizes in between. I already know what I will be wearing this week. We'll just have to see.
