Making a list and checking it twice...



Gonna find out if it's a good price. Oh Mandy's got some thrifting to do! I know I have a ton of clothes already- all of which are buried deep in storage from our big move. I believe that by the time we finish building our house, and unpack- things will definately not fit me and gasp! may even be out of style. I feel that style challenges such as those posted on Everybody,Everywear certainly get my hamster wheels a-turnin and make me excited about getting dressed in the morning. Now I'm not so afraid to be so matchy-matchy with my clothes and shoes, thanks to...  Kileen and her color brigade and Sally @ AlwaysPretty.com . It's so refreshing to see their use of vibrant colors. Sally has some great tips and ideas for incorporating color into your outfit with shoes.



  

I got these babies for $5 clearance at Target about 3 yrs ago. They have been worn maybe twice- simply because I didn't know what to wear them with for the longest time. I intend to show them some love.

Biggest Little City: Part 2

We arrived, changed into our pretties and then off we went to dinner. Our ultimate destinations being Rum Bullions- Dueling Piano Bar for some laughs and sing-a-long fun and then later somewhere to go dancing. When the show died down, half of our group went to gamble, hopefully to double their paychecks... lol and the other half of us went to shake our groove thangs at the Aura Bar in Silver Legacy.



It was great fun. Before we had known it 3 hrs had passed by. We were drenched with sweat and feeling it was about time to call it a night. And a night it was, Whew! and what a workout! My friends and I re-hydrated then made a stop at the ladies room. Now this is where the fun begins... and I can't help but laugh at myself.

Does anyone out there remember the hilarious Friends episode with Ross and his leather pants? That was me- I had a heck of a time peeling these skintight sweaty jeggins off (yeah I know gross, right?). One of my girlfriends was in the stall next to me and started laughing as I wiggled and danced about trying to peel myself out of them.. and nearly toppling through the closed stall door during the process. Then came the whole dreaded process in reverse- this time included hopping and wiggling. Man did I wish I had a bottle of lotion with me. I should have just worn a dress.

Lesson learned, don't ask a drunken stranger to take your picture.

3am: Back to the hotel room, and ready for a shower and some Z's.

All in all it was a fun trip in which we all needed. My husband got his needed boy time as well. I was so proud of myself, I only gambled 4 dollars worth and lost only 3.80 of it- it helps that we stayed so busy, I didn't have time to gamble. I got my cashout voucher for $0.20! lol I should frame it. All in all it was a fun trip in which we all needed.

Feeling Nauti-cal

I'm on a Boat! No, not really, but I should be. All I'm missing is my "nautical theme pashmina afghan".

Today is Blazer Day over at Everybody, Everywear , and I'm participating. This awesome navy blue blazer, striped shirt and red skinny belt was found during our last thrifting trip. I'm marking my calendar since I just discovered our 2 local thriftstores hold a 50% off sale the first weekend of every month. Yay! The picture above is my attempt at not smiling. C'mon guys, this is my serious face. :oP

 

I'm super proud of myself today. I reached into my closet and created a super cute outfit with something that I just thrifted. The amazing part is that it all came together, quite easily. Now I don't know much about vintage dress suits or ( vintage clothes for that matter)... so if anyone out there has any idea if the blazer really is vintage, let me know. All I could find online about the company points to maybe 40's/50's through the early 90's. It's in great shape, no real discoloration of the tag. I did find a "game of life- $50 bill in the pocket"  dated 1976... so maybe?

*Note: These had extra large rosettes when I bought them. By the time I got them home I had to bust out the scissors and give them a bit of a trim. Now they don't flop over the edge of the toe as loosely. I think it looks much better.

Yes, I have found my purpose. After spending the past week or two being deeply inspired by my fellow blogging fashionista friends out there, I've decided to create, in order to share.

For quite some time, I've needed an extra reason to break free from the monotony of my work wardrobe. Working in a medical office, abiding by the dress code, and still trying to keep a fashionable look can be especially tough. You're allowed to express yourself with wild cartoony print scrub tops and colorful solid bottoms. I usually top off the whole look with a simple pair of earrings and some uber-hot faux Crocs. Wait! Don't call the fashion police. This is just for work.

When the weekend's here my inner stylist starts singing TLC's...."No, I don't want no scrubs"...

But yet I yearn to dress up at the end of the day. Even if it's putting on jeans and a simple tee and my favorite piece of jewelry... It still feels a little more put together and a little less like you rolled out of bed and began your day in your jammies. Because let's face it girls, wearing scrubs M-Thurs is simply like wearing PJ's all week.

Did I mention friday's are dress up jean days? Yay! As if I needed another reason to love fridays... I love Old Navy jeans because they fit me perfectly. Never before in my life have I found jeans that fit my petite frame so nicely. I like that they have so many styles to choose from and they're reasonably priced. They have a good supply of "Short" jeans, for gals like myself, but they also have a good selection in "Long" jeans and all the sizes in between. I already know what I will be wearing this week. We'll just have to see.
