Outfit of the Day 7/16/11- Night @ the Races

The Eye Makeup
(Sorry for the picture quality lately- I've been relying solely on my cell phone for blogging pictures)

What I wore to the races in Placerville... My uncle owns a Sprint Car... and since we were going out to support his team and driver, I wanted to stay with the black & white color scheme in support of the car colors. I went red on my nails.

Outfit Details:
Shirt: ROSS
Belt: ROSS
Jeans: Old Navy
Bracelets: Cookie Lee
Earrings: Cookie Lee
Necklace: Juicy Couture via PV Thrift
Sandals: Old Navy
Sunglasses: Grocery Store Cheapies*

*It is essential that you wear proper eye protection and earplugs at a race of this nature. It is not uncommon for "Cheeto" sized dirt clods to come flying your way. Once the dirt clods have ceased the track usually has dried out enough for copious amounts of dust clouds to form.  Either way do yourself a favor and bring along the necessities-even eye drops for the rogue dirt partical that has claimed residence on your eyeball.

What I Wore: HARRY POTTER FINALE

What I wore to see the final installment of the Harry Potter series...

I've been so verrrry excited to watch the final installment of the Harry Potter series.

Outfit Details: black short sleeved dress (ROSS), lace trimmed tweed skirt (thrifted), belt (ROSS), shoes (ROSS), bracelet/earrings (Cookie Lee Jewelry), necklaces (thrifted)

Tip: Layer a skirt over a dress
So I went with an ensemble a young hip professor McGonagall might have worn...

I took my brother to see the movie. I feel old when I reflect back to him- then a small 6 yr old seeing it the very first time and loving it. My love for this literary series began in high school when my sister and I were given book 4 for Christmas. To be honest, I didn't know that there were already 3 books written prior, so I'll admit I was a bit confused when I began reading it, but I was hooked and wanted to finish it. Later, I discovered the first 3 books so I read those. And each time a new book was released, I re-read the previous books just for fun.

Can you believe I thrifted this the week before?  How perfect!

Below are some inspiring looks for my fellow HP fans without having to dress in full costume. I say if you want to wear your round-rimmed Potter frames, lightning bolt on forehead, wand in hand, and cloak- be my guest. I won't judge. I will excitedly oogle your costume and tell you how fabulous you look and maybe even ask to take a picture with you- that is if I don't embarrass my husband with my new obsession in photographing everything.

Is it bad that I saw this as a Lennon Kitty and I'm under 30?

Did you see the movie? Was it everything you'd hoped it'd be?

At the Races...

What I wore to the races...

It was a toasty 103 in Placerville today. The fam and I braved the heat to support my uncle and his racing team.

I opted for a tiered gray jersey skirt, a black v-neck sleeveless top and black flipflips and belt to stay comfortable.

Please excuse the lack of clarity in the photos recently. I'm having trouble with my camera and had to rely on my cell phone camera.

Top: Charlotte Russe
Skirt: thrifted
Flip Flops: Payless 2010
Jewelry: Cookie Lee
Belt: Ross

Feelin' Patriotic

Not Your Typical Independence Day

Wishing all of my lovely followers and blogger friends a happy and safe July 4th! Hope your day is wonderful.

The hubby and I spent our day on a hilltop with friends and their family overlooking the lake, sippin' our cheap beers, tossin' horseshoes, shootin' clay pigeons, and BBQ-ing to the sound of country music and all before sundown. Did I mention the 3 redneck jacuzzis aka "hick-cuzzis" ? In all, it was and evening of good friends and good food and a spectacular fireworks show.

Hick-cuzzi: A truck bed lined with a tarp and filled with water to the brim. Like a jacuzzi but one Jeff Foxworthy might rig up.
